I'm Alive! I Think! Maybe.

I thought I'd do a really quick blog just to let all the people I know who actually read it, that I haven't disappeared off the face of the earth! I haven't been on the IM for days now and I've tried to keep up on e-mails but I think I've failed miserably! Here's the reason I have been out of touch lately: I'm sick! I've been struggling along for about 2 weeks now with a headache, sore throat and ear ache but have put off going to the doctor because I had a new patient appointment scheduled for today and I wasn't going to pay $50 at the walk in place when I could go somewhere else that my insurance covered for only $5!

So I waited, and waited. I noticed a big, white spot at the back of my throat which I fondly named "Bob". Bob was soon joined by "Phil". Phil was joined by some smaller friends but I decided not to name them because I was alarmed by how many friends had showed up and thought if I named them they might not go away.

Thursday was bad! My mild headache exploded into a migraine and I wanted to physically remove my ear and throat and get new ones that didn't hurt. My wonderful husband got me Tylenol and a nice iced coffee (caffeine helps headaches) and tried to keep the girls entertained while I quietly died on the couch. Friday and Saturday I felt a little better and then Sunday morning I woke up feeling worse and Joel woke up with a sore throat and migraine so we stayed home from church. I really didn't want to teach Sunday School with a frog in my throat! Just imagine the croaky whisper,"Okay kids (wheeze, gasp)today were going to (sniffle, sniffle) learn how Nehemiah rebuilt the wall (hack, hack)..." not pretty. Did I mention during all of this Katie had 2 bloody noses and Abby had multiple accidents? It has not been fun at our house!

So today I went into the doctor with an armful of forms for him to fill out for my Asthma prescription that I get through Merck's program and a "please confirm this person is not crazy and has all their limbs" form for my Driver's Permit (I know, I'm naughty, I still don't have my license!) and a good deal of optimism that my sore throat was just allergies. Wrong-o! I had an infection in my ear and throat so I got a nice prescription that I really hoped the pharmacists could read because I didn't even recognize my own name! The doctor was very nice though and didn't grouch at all when he had to fill out the forms. He joked about how dumb PA is for having doctors fill out the forms for a permit and how stupid the hours the DMV kept were which made me happy! He also gave me a month of samples of my asthma medication which made him my favorite doctor ever!

I've never been so thrilled to have medication before in my life! My throat will finally stop hurting! Yay! Hopefully by Wednesday I'll be back to my old self and ready to get back into the swing of things. Until then I apologize for not being on the IM, for missing birthdays (Sorry Grandpa Pete and Opa! And Happy Birthday late!) and my general grumpiness and/or lack of enthusiasm!
